Did you call Uncle Bob, an attorney, who helped you with that traffic ticket? Or your neighbor, attorney Margaret who was so nice when she helped you set up your will and a trust. Or maybe you couldn’t sleep one night and called that guy who advertises cheap bankruptcy? No! You wouldn’t do that. And why not? Because you know they aren’t the right attorney you need to protect and guide you through your divorce.
So why are you considering working with the nice smiling person on the home search website that night you couldn’t sleep? You really need to reconsider that as well.
Because of my own divorce several years ago, I realized there is more to selling the marital property than with the typical home sale. This is seldom a happy move. It can toss a family into a tailspin which can take months or even years to work out. Im aware of that and have the patience to keep the process moving forward. My specialization equips me to handle the real estate aspect with neutrality and efficiency and ensure the orders for the divorce are carried out. I also provide resources for any real property issues that arise in a case. A general practitioner is not likely to be able to do so as I understand the legal process, I’m trained to handle the emotions of two opposing parties in high conflict matters and am held to a higher standard, such as recusing myself from dual agency, among other things.
While helping you, the sellers, I can take a lot of the day-to-day headaches off the attorney’s plate. I have associated myself with other industry professionals trained in divorce law, divorce coaching, therapists, mortgages professionals trained in divorce work (can you buy your spouse out of the house? Do you even want to?)) and financial counseling for your future.
Essentially, a more traditional Realtor may set their expectations on how fast a “deal” might close. A Real Estate Divorce expert knows this might not be the case when working with a divorcing couple. A Realtor trained as a Certified Divorce Real Estate expert knows that everything will take longer, and it might be necessary to wait until emotions have quieted down before details can be worked out.
I want to stress how important it is to have impartiality between both parties and to ensure the home sale goes smoothly, despite any differences between you. By ” representing the house”, the CDRE can significantly reduce the emotions associated with the sale and by starting early in the process, may enable the property to see maximum value which will benefit all in the long run.

Kathryn brought together her years of experience and dedication and orchestrated the many difficult details during the process of selling my home for the divorce. She is very customer oriented, all the while answering questions about the home selling process- often many times over. Kathryn has a lot of integrity and I felt she had my best interests at heart. I would highly recommend her. Richard Evans |
Kathryn Hoffman is an exemplary realtor who exudes trust and confidence in her ability to get the job done. I wouldn’t work with anyone else! She is supportive, creative, and professional in her approach to real estate sales. Kathryn goes out of her way to ensure that the selling of the house goes smoothly. I could not have been more pleased with her efforts and the result. She is truly wonderful! Cary Carlson |
I’ve known Kathryn on a more personal level, rather than business for a long time. And knowing her level of integrity was a huge factor in choosing to work with her. She excelled in every aspect of the business transaction. And I can’t imagine that any other agent would have shown her level of patience and sensitivity to my personal issues surrounding the transaction. I strongly recommend Kathryn; she’s a rockstar!
